Without doubt the most exciting promise that Jesus made was His promise to return to Earth. What will that day be like? Is His return a secret event that you will hear about after it has happened? Jesus Promised to Return
In John 14:1-3, Jesus promises that He will come again when everything is ready for His followers to go to Heaven.
Jesus’ return will be Literal, Visible and Audible
In Acts 1:9-11, the angels said that Jesus will come in the same manner that the disciples saw Him ascend. This was a literal event, not a spiritual one.
In Matthew 24:26, 27, Jesus says that His Second Coming will not be secret, but as visible and audible as lightning flashing across the night sky.
In Revelation 1:7, the Apostle John says that every eye will see Him return.
Thessalonians 4:16, 17 ‒ the dead in Christ will be called to life at the second coming with an audible shout and trumpet.
Jesus’ return will be glorious
Matthew 25:31‒ the first time Jesus came to earth, He was born in a stable. How different it will be the second time.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 ‒ what a day it will be when we are remade with new imperishable and immortal bodies.
Matthew 24:30-31‒ the angels will gather God’s people up and take them to heaven.
Jesus’ Return will be Final
In Revelation 6:12-17, the wicked are terrified by the sight of Jesus’ return, as they are not ready to meet Him.
2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 ‒ the wicked will be punished and destroyed at the second coming.
2 Peter 3:10 ‒ the earth, as we know, will be destroyed at the second coming. This is as final as it gets.
2 Peter 3:13-14 ‒ the second coming will mean sin will no longer rule in our world. Hallelujah!
